Metallo Chimique has recently gone live with OM Partners’ metal recycling optimization solution in its site in Beerse, Belgium.

Metallo Chimique feeds raw metallic materials, such as old radiators, to their furnaces to be recovered into marketable materials. The goal of the project with OM Partners was to find the mixture of these raw input materials that maximizes the margin on the marketable output products. Various process constraints had to be taken into account: multi-operation constraints, heat and mass balances in the furnaces, specifications on chemical compositions, minimum and maximum volumes, etc.

OM Partners provided a user-friendly solution in which the optimal mixture of raw materials is calculated in a matter of seconds. In addition, the Oracle-based solution allows easy data importing via excel, extensive reporting, and comparing of different what-if scenarios. Business objectives were met within a period of 6 months.
